About Us

We're building the future of space access by designing and delivering high-performance satellite platforms that scale from early demonstration missions to full constellations. Our integrated bus-and-payload approach gives customers a faster, more reliable path from concept to orbit. If you're passionate about precision engineering and want your work to fly (literally), we'd love to meet you.

Role Overview

As a Design Automation Engineer, you'll build the software our hardware team designs on. Eclipse develops RF payloads and phased array systems in Altium Designer, and you'll own the tooling around it: the extensions our designers work inside every day, and the automation that keeps component, library, and release data trustworthy at constellation scale.

This is a software engineering role with a hardware audience. You won't own board designs. You'll be the person who notices that six designers each solve the same problem by hand every week and replaces it with a tool. Your users sit down the hall, and you'll see your work adopted or ignored within days.

Aerospace experience is not required, and neither is prior work with the Altium SDK. We're looking for strong engineers who understand how boards actually get designed and released, and who want to make that process faster for the people doing it.

Responsibilities

  • Build Altium Designer extensions in C# that put tooling directly in designers' workflow
  • Develop services and command-line automation against our Altium Enterprise Workspace in .NET, TypeScript/Node, or Python
  • Automate library validation, component data ingestion, and supplier/part reconciliation
  • Encode PCB design standards as automated checks so problems surface at design time rather than at fab
  • Automate release-package assembly and validation across fabrication outputs, BOMs, and drawings
  • Support the Teamcenter rollout on the ECAD side and connect released component and BOM data to NetSuite
  • Build reporting on library health, component lifecycle status, and release readiness
  • Partner with RF, payload, and manufacturing engineers to identify what's worth automating
  • Maintain tests, CI, and documentation so the hardware team can trust the tooling without verifying it by hand

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Proficiency in C# and .NET, required for anything running inside Altium Designer
  • Fluency in at least one additional backend language, such as TypeScript/Node or Python
  • Solid software fundamentals: API design, data modeling, error handling, and testing
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate systems that were not designed to work together
  • Hands-on experience with an ECAD tool such as Altium, Xpedition, Allegro, OrCAD, or KiCad
  • Working understanding of the PCB development process from part selection through schematic, layout, review, release, fab, and assembly
  • Comfortable making progress against documentation that is incomplete or in flight
  • Git, code review, and automated testing as normal working habits

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience with Altium Designer specifically, including managed libraries, design rules, and output jobs
  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience which includes building internal tooling used by other engineers
  • Prior work with Altium Enterprise or a comparable managed-component and lifecycle environment
  • Extending or customizing a CAD/PLM platform via its API (Altium, CATIA/CAA, Teamcenter, SolidWorks, Revit)
  • PCB design experience, even a handful of boards
  • PLM or ERP integration, especially Teamcenter and NetSuite
  • Familiarity with RF or high-speed board design constraints: controlled impedance, stackup planning, multi-layer routing
  • Delphi or Object Pascal, used in legacy Altium scripting
  • Development with AI coding tools, and clear opinions on where they help and where they need to be overridden
  • Designing tools and APIs meant to be invoked by an AI agent rather than a person
  • Authoring agent skills (Claude Agent Skills or equivalent)
  • Evaluation practice for AI-in-the-loop tooling: benchmarking, regression testing, and human checkpoints
  • Experience in aerospace, space, defense, or another high-reliability regulated environment

How We Work

We use AI tooling for development, and we expect you to. We provide Claude Code and equivalent tooling, and using it is part of the job here. If you haven't worked this way before, we'll get you set up.

What we care about is judgment, not volume. You own everything you ship, and should understand your code well enough to debug it under pressure and maintain it a year from now.

Salary: $142k - $213k
